The Mental Wellness Center hosts aFamily-to-Family Class, which Lippincott joined after her daughter was diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder. The 12-week course teaches family members about mental disorders, like depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. It also instructs them on how to support family members while taking care of themselves.
Lippincott said she knew nothing about mental illness after hearing of her daughter’s diagnosis in June 2003, “the rug was pulled out from under me.”
